Visiting Villalobos New Orleans

Villalobos Rescue Center (VRC) makes a page specifically designed for visiting and tours. Now, Villalobos Rescue Center (VRC) is a tourist attraction. While this may sound fun and exciting for you, some people forget that it is still a working environment for them. They juggle taking care of the dogs, doing the admin work, filming a TV show and being open to the public. All of which takes a lot out of them but they do it for the dogs. However, if you are coming all the way to New Orleans only to visit them, you absolutely have to take in some of the great things which happen here in this magical city.

This section has been made only to give you several ideas of the who, what and where to go. Those are businesses that they have worked with personally and who have been so gracious and kind to them, since their move here to the Crescent City. Again these are only some suggestions to help plan out your trip. Also, they have given you several guidelines when coming to their facility. They want your visit to be a good one not only for you but also for their dogs.

Villalobos Visiting Guidelines

  • Be respectful

Be respectful

Once Again, this is a working environment. For you it is a reality TV show, but please you have to remember that they all still work whether it is running the rescue or filming the TV show. Thus, they ask that you respect this. If the filming is going on, you do not run up in the middle of it to ask Tia Torres to take a picture with you, sadly this has occurred. If they are conducting an adoption meet and greet with potential adopters, you do not interrupt their time with VRC to get an autograph with Tia Torres or any other cast member. Yeah, you guessed it, this has occurred as well. If any of the workers or cast members are taking care of the dogs, you do not stop their flow of work because VRC must keep a tight time schedule

  • No video

Remember that taking of the picture is allowed but not video. They are constantly filming here, letting video defeat the purpose of having Animal Planet document their lives and work on camera. Once again, the respect word comes into play. If any of their workers or cast members are in the middle of working, please do not stop them or get in their way only for the sake of getting a picture taken. In the past, they have overly zealous fans literally stick the camera in their faces and the dog’s face only to get a quick picture. It is not only distracting, but also very dangerous. You not only can startle the dog but also their workers need to stay focused when handling the dogs. Please use common sense when taking pictures. Of course, there are always opportunities when the work is done. Also, you are going to see some of the cast members/workers standing around and helping with the visitors and tourists.

  • Tours take about 20 minutes.

You are going to be escorted through the facility by their tour guides. Earl and Sui will introduce you to some of the dogs, and then end the tour with a stop in their merchandise store: Lapit. They are able to accept cash (they also now have an ATM machine), checks and will be setting up credit cards as soon as possible.

  • Do not bring your dog

You will not be able to bring your personal dog into the facility. If you have no option but to bring your dog, you have to ensure either someone can stand outside with him/her or that you have good A/C in your car. Sometimes, people forget that though it may not be too hot outside, the humidity can suck the air out of an enclosed vehicle.
